A Pair of Socks and a Pair of Pears and some miscellany

I am really trying not to fall back into old habits of neglecting my blogs.  So here is a little update:

The Memorial sweater is finished.

Dr. T. (who retired after being my physician since 1977) --his second pair of gift socks.  Lovely black sock yarn.

A Log Cabin Blanket that will be a long-term work-in-progress as it is all made up of scraps.  At the moment I am on the 5th of 24 blocks.

I have finally chosen the color for the new countertops.

Level I, Master Hand Knitter's Program is finished, and the binder is sent in.  Sorry for the upside-down picture of the swatches.  It cost over $35 to send the binder (that included $5+ for the mailing box).

I almost forgot--I finished my  Wingspan shawl/scarf.  One-100g ball of sock yarn.

And last but not least, the pair of pears. We picked 14 pears (and I wasted two testing them before they were ready, so 16 in all).  They are only 2" long, but the sweetest tasiest little pears. We finally got the proper pollinator for our older pear tree.  The older tree was riotously covered in blossoms, but the pollinator is just a wee little thing.  We are hoping for an increasingly larger crop every year.

Exposing oneself in public

No, nothing kinky here.  On one of the Ravelry Forums, we set knitting goals for September.  So I thought:  Good idea!  If I go public, I will be accountable.  Expose all the UFO's (unfinished objects).  So, here goes.
1.  The Memorial Sweater by next weekend.--one more sleeve and wash and block.DONE
2.  Dr. T's second pair of socks by next weekend.-- 1 1/2 socks to go. DONE
3.  Chris's Illusion scarf by next weekend --28" to go
4.  Richard's Aran Pullover --by the end of the month.
5.  Submit Master Knitter binder by the end of the month.  DONE
6.  Finish the Azure Kalypso shawl by the end of the month.
7.  Start 2-3 Christmas knits
8.  Make significant progress on Shelley's Black Cabled Hoodie.

Non-knitting:  ( weather-dependent--only if it rains)
1.   install 3 fluorescents in the downstairs kitchen, and a new light in the office (to replace the fluorescent that I'm stealing for the kitchen).
2.   organize my reno tools so I can really clean the rumpus room and put away the ones I don't need any more.
3.  recycle some of mom's stuff that no-one wants--like the encyclopedias.
4.  a little concrete repair work on the footing of the cold storage room.DONE

Gardening:  whatever needs doing as the weather allows.
1.  Rototill all the areas that I round-upped yesterday.DONE
2.  Plant the Saskatoon, Haskaps, Currants and Gooseberries.
3.  Finish weeding the last 2 rough flower beds:  round-up as soon as the weeds re-grow enough.
4.  Whatever the vegetable garden needs.
