Will Spring Ever Really Spring?

Yesterday, I went to the city for a Dr. appointment (Dr. Randy Gregg, former Edmonton Oiler NHL player, during the Wayne Gretzky era). Since we are so busy these days, I make the most of the day and run a lot of errands. These consisted of:
--post office for mail and a parcel.
--bank for a deposit--arrived 1 hr. before bank opens.
--hardware for DH
--a quick visit to another bride's house. This poor girl's wedding: the wedding was to take place in Mexico on May 23--airlines cancelled--re-booked for Jamaica in July (I didn't mention hurricanes to her). Then she got her wedding dress back from a seamstress who altered it, and it was horrible--butchered would be an apt description. My son, who is in the wedding party, called me. As long as the stitch holes are not permanent, I can fix the dress--It was taken in 3" too much--I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it; Praise the Lord that she didn't cut anything away--I know that this girl has not gained weight.
--a trip to a pastry shop called La Favorite to pick up a treat for a visit for tea with a high school friend whom I haven't seen in about 4 years. THe pastries were so great, that I bought some for home as well as for our tea. I can't believe I spent $32 on pastries--but I'm a sucker for anything hazelnut. We've been eating carefully for so long, and we work so hard--I'll ration them out over a few days...MMMMMMM
--a stop at Mark's Work Wearhouse (they have the neatest casual clothes) for a skort on sale, and a coupon--decided against it since have to wear big clunky shoes with orthotic insoles till the car accident injuries (2 years old) heal (I hope)--that's what the Dr. appt. was about.
--groceries
Got home at 9:30 pm, put away the perishables and crashed. (It's a 50-mile-one-way trip to the city limits) Had a horrible night's sleep--exhausted body, overstimulated mind.
But what I started to say is that it was sunny and beautiful--no jacket or sweater.
Today it's below freezing, the wind is blowing from the NW at 20mph creating a windchill. We spend more time carrying plants in and out than I care to admit. I'm not a cursing person, but I'm tempted. Words like "poop" and "darn" and "fudge" are on the tip of my tongue--but there they'll stay. (for now) I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but Thursday is expected to be even colder than today, yet the long weekend coming up is supposed to be lovely. I'm still transplanting.
Wedding alteration update: veil will be done tonight. Mother of Bride-done; Flowergirl-done; One bridesmaid-done; bride's honeymoon pants and top-done.
Left: 2 bridesmaids, shorten crinoline, bustle wedding dress, tuck in a cotton dress for the honeymoon. Phew--on the homestretch.
Knittin update: Cousin's baby due on May 28th--need to go to the storage container for buttons for the baby hoodie so I can ship the parcel to Germany.
No pictures today. My picture uploading time was spent adding pictures to my Ravelry projects.
Till next time: Grandmothers try hard, but they run out of puff. (H.M.E.)

  1. Busy, busy you! Sounds like you need a few clones. Or at the very least, a hired helper!
Sounds as though your day, though busy and hectic, was satisfying.

  2. WOW! You've been really busy.
Sorry about your really cold weather... poor plants. It's been 68F. here every day for two weeks! (Of course, down to freezing every night.) Being that warm won't last, but it's sure been nice...
